TV audio is diverse, ranging from live speech during live news to highly produced spots to sports filled with background noise. Conventional audio processors, with several interacting controls, offer tremendous flexibility, but are challenging to setup. They are unsuited for dealing with the realities of diverse television program material. Broadcast processors intended for FM radio also do not fair well in television – they are loudness boxes. Television needs very smart gain riding, and peak limiting.
